At breakfast I met a Reece's Rainbow family who already have their daughter. It was such a blessing to put faces with the names that we communicate with online. We also met the other members of our travel group. It was good to connect with others from our agency. We found we all have a connection to Texas. Such a small world.
After going over some paperwork for the adoption, we headed to the local mall and supermarket, Aeon. Shopping in China is always an experience to say the least. If you pick up an item, a worker will immediately approach you. They know no English and we speak no Mandarin so I am not sure what exactly they are saying to us. Upon entering the store, we were reminded of previous visits to China as we smelled the King of the Fruits, Durian. Lou and I had the misfortune of meeting the King and its nasty odor when we adopted our daughter, Nina. The store had an enormous display of durian and shoppers were excitedly surrounding it and sampling cut up pieces. We noticed the workers given the task of cutting up the nastiness were wearing masks. It is unclear if it was a health issue to protect the integrity of the fruit or if that thing just smelled so awful that workers hoped to avoid getting a full whiff of the stink. Lou tried to take pictures of the workers cutting up the fruit, but we were chased off and told, "no pictures!" Oh well, we did get a pic of the display.
